What the lines mean

Each curve shows a percentile from the WHO Child Growth Standards. The middle line is the 50th percentile, the median. A baby who follows any line between the 3rd and the 97th steadily is usually growing well. Doctors pay more attention to how a baby follows a curve over time than to a single point.

Which charts to use

The CDC and AAP recommend WHO charts for all children under 2 years. For babies born before 37 weeks, plot measurements using corrected age. For a single measurement, our Baby Growth Percentile Calculator gives the exact percentile.
