The baby’s head makes up about half of its length. Tooth buds are forming under the gums, and the baby can now open and close its hands.

Your body at 11 weeks

For many people nausea starts to ease around now, although it can last longer. You may feel lightheaded if you stand up quickly, because your blood vessels are relaxing.

Your checklist this week

  • The NT scan, part of first-trimester screening, is usually done between 11 and 14 weeks.
  • Stand up slowly and keep a snack with you if you feel faint.
  • Drink plenty of water through the day.

  • Bleeding from your vagina

  • A bad headache, blurred vision or sudden swelling
  • Fluid leaking from your vagina
  • Fever, or pain when you pass urine
  • Later in pregnancy, your baby moving less than usual
