Your baby at 24 weeks

The lungs are beginning to make surfactant, a substance that will help them inflate after birth. The skin is thin and wrinkled, and will smooth out as fat builds up.

Your body at 24 weeks

Your bump is growing steadily. Many people are offered a glucose test between 24 and 28 weeks to check for gestational diabetes.

Your checklist this week

  • Ask about your glucose screening test, usually done between 24 and 28 weeks.
  • Know the signs of early labour: regular contractions, lower back pain, pressure in the pelvis or a change in discharge.
  • Keep track of your baby’s movements.
