Your baby at 5 weeks

The neural tube, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, is forming. This is why folic acid is so important now. The heart is developing as a simple tube and its cells begin to pulse.

Your body at 5 weeks

Early symptoms often appear: tender or swollen breasts, needing to pass urine more often, tiredness and, for many, the start of nausea.
