Your baby at 9 weeks

All the essential organs have started to form. The embryo's tail has gone, eyelids are developing, and the baby looks more human every day.

Your body at 9 weeks

Higher blood volume can make veins more visible on your chest and tummy. Constipation and heartburn may start as hormones slow down digestion.

Your checklist this week

  • Ask your doctor about screening tests for chromosomal conditions, such as the NT scan or a cell-free DNA blood test.
  • Eat fibre-rich foods and drink plenty of water to help with constipation.
  • Keep moving with gentle exercise such as walking.
