A creamy coating called vernix is forming on the baby’s skin to protect it from the amniotic fluid.

Skin changes are common, such as a dark line down your tummy (linea nigra) and darker patches on the face. They usually fade after birth.

Your checklist this week

  • Use sunscreen, as sunlight can darken pregnancy skin changes.
  • Keep up with your appointments and anomaly scan.
  • Start thinking about antenatal classes.

  • Fever, or pain when you pass urine
  • Later in pregnancy, your baby moving less than usual
