Your baby at 21 weeks

Movements are getting stronger, and the baby now has periods of sleeping and waking. Taste buds are working, and the baby can taste flavours from your diet in the amniotic fluid.

Your body at 21 weeks

Leg cramps, especially at night, and varicose veins are common as your blood volume rises and your uterus presses on blood vessels.

Your checklist this week

  • Stretch your calf muscles before bed to help with cramps.
  • Put your feet up when you can and avoid standing for long periods.
